NOON TUNES
THREE MERRIE MELODIES!
It's officially summer in Austin, which means it's too hot to be outside before 8 PM. Good news: KMFA's studio is air-conditioned, the snacks are free, and the music is world-class. Bring your kids (and yourself) to the first Noon Tunes of the summer — our free family events series.
We're kicking off with three classic Merrie Melodies episodes, each packed with orchestral masterpieces. Watch the notes on a musical score come to life as they prepare to perform Johann Strauss Jr.'s Blue Danube Waltz in "High Note." Hear a riveting performance of Franz Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No.2, and brace yourself for Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd in "What's Opera, Doc?" — grand, ridiculous, and set to the music of Richard Wagner.
KMFA’s host of Saturday Matinee, KMFA by Request, and Manager of Education and Outreach, Guillermo Delgado, will be your guide — offering just enough context to make the music click, and maybe even a quick opera lesson for the brave.
Free snacks, cookies, and activities start before the show. No tickets to buy, no dress code, and no shushing.
This is the first of four free Noon Tunes events this summer — from cartoon classics to live concerts. Stay tuned for July, August, and September dates!
