Director of Sales and Marketing

KMFA Classical 89.5 is seeking a Director of Sales and Marketing, who will develop and implement strategies to grow revenue through corporate underwriting, increase listenership and deepen audience engagement and community awareness. Duties include leading the KMFA sales team, marketing planning and communications, media relations, web and social media content, and community engagement initiatives. Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Sales and Marketing will be a pro-active, creative thinker and cross-disciplinary team player.

Responsibilities

Meet or exceed underwriting revenue goals.

Electronic communications: plan, write and coordinate e-newsletters and e-blasts.

Social media: maintain and expand the station social media accounts; stay abreast of developments in social media and recommend presence on new platforms as appropriate.

Digital content: oversee KMFA web site and app., ensure quality control and brand consistency throughout web site. Collaborate with Senior Management Team to maintain cohesion of on-air, online, and event communications. Track and improve web and digital engagement through appropriate analytic tools.

Media Relations: maintain media list and cultivate relationships with media.

Branding: oversee rollout of new KMFA brand platform working with creative agency. Work with all departments to ensure consistency of branding, graphic identity, and marketing messaging throughout all communications.

Advertising and marketing materials: work with agencies and freelancers to develop ads and marketing collateral as needed. Make paid media recommendations and oversee implementation of external marketing campaigns.

Community Relations: cultivate and maintain relationships with community arts partners.

Events: plan and coordinate station promotional events, such as booth and table displays and/or twitter and other online presence. Participate in relevant job fairs.

Qualifications

Excellent writer and editor with strong presentation skills 

Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing or related field

Track record of success in media sales

Track record of success with social media

Track record of work experience in Public Relations, Marketing Communications, or related field

Knowledge of html, content management systems, and SEO or keyword marketing strategies

Knowledge of classical music and the Austin arts community helpful

Public radio or nonprofit experience helpful

Digital Content Producer

KMFA, 89.5, Austin’s Independent public classical music broadcaster seeks a digital content producer to manage assets of our digital content strategy. If you’re someone who loves classical music and can get our brand, “on key and offbeat”, read on!

Description:

The Digital Content Producer will produce, edit, and post content for multiple platforms - broadcast, web, and social media, including an ongoing campaign utilizing our 135-seat Draylen Mason Music Studio, a key component of KMFA’s presence in the arts community in Central Texas. A key focus of the Digital Content Coordinator is the execution of digital content strategy in support of KMFA’s strategic plan. This position requires strong video production skills, project management and writing skills, and demonstrated knowledge and experience with graphic design, social media and website management.

Must provide a portfolio of at least three produced video examples.

Must provide at least three references.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Shooting, editing, and propagation of video content from the Draylen Mason Performance Studio to KMFA’s YouTube page, web page, and social media platforms
  • Periodically update KMFA’s website and other digital media properties with photo galleries, contests, and events
  • Work with Marketing to write newsletters
  • Regularly post and manage content across multiple platforms (such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter,  YouTube, etc.)
  • Capable of working independently and as part of the Content, Events, and Marketing teams
  • Communicate and engage with followers in a friendly and helpful manner
  • Analyze web and social data and present statistics to Content and Marketing at regular meetings
  • Strategize and pitch ideas to improve online reach
  • Coverage of station events - includes shooting video, photographing and social media

Required Skills:

  • 2+years in Digital Media, work experience with classical music a plus
  • Capable of shooting, editing, and live streaming video
  • Extensive knowledge of video/audio equipment, and recording techniques
  • Experience with YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and other social media platforms
  • Social media savvy, and the ability to utilize analytics to measure reach, develop strategies.

Event Production Coordinator 

Reports to: Director of Events 

Direct Reports: Event Managers on Duty (MODs) 

Content/Media Management 40% 

  • Record live events in the Draylen Mason Music Studio, edit, and distribute archival media to internal and external clients. 
  • Organize archival media on local storage servers (with cloud back up) according to established protocol. 
  • Serve as an in-house video editor of archival media. 
  • Assist with publishing new video content to YouTube with a goal of one video posted every two weeks. 

Event and Venue Support 40% 

  • Oversee technical production operations in the Draylen Mason Music Studio. 
  • Assist the Director of Events in selling event space, coordinating events with clients and ensuring excellent event execution. 
  • Manage part time, hourly MOD staff including hiring, onboarding and scheduling. 
  • Providing MODS with regular training in operating the technology of the Draylen Mason Music Studio and event support protocol. 
  • Work with MOD staff in supporting internal and external events that include utilization of projection equipment, cameras, Qlab, lighting equipment, live audio reinforcement and processing and digital signage. 
  • Onsite event support as needed. 

Interdepartmental Support 20% 

  • Attend regular staff meetings. 
  • Assist with planning and execution of events and programs for other departments including Development and Education departments. 
  • Document policies, procedures and protocols. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

SPECIFIC CONDITIONS OF WORK: 

The Event Production Coordinator Is a full-time, 40-hour exempt position with in-person and remote office hours and regular evening and weekend in person work. Current policy encourages in-person hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  

This position is required to have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.  

This position will also be required to lift items up to 50 lbs. and climb ladders on an occasional basis.  

While conditions may alter the amount of time spent in any one area, the time spent on position responsibilities can be expected to be as follows: 

Content/Media Management 40% 

Event and Venue Support 40% 

Interdepartmental Support 20% 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Bachelor’s Degree or comparable professional experience. 

Familiarity with live event production including sound recording and playback, lighting, and projections. 

Experience with stage management a plus. 

Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills. 

Computer Literacy: 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Teams. 
  • Proficiency in video editing programs like Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and/or Final Cut Pro X 
  • Familiarity with QLab and digital audio workstation applications (Apple Logic Pro & Avid Pro Tools). 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

This job operates in a professional office and venue space. Spaces include outdoor environments that may occasionally be subject to inclement weather such as heat & humidity.  

Work is performed on multiple projects concurrently under pressure of deadlines and time limitations. The hours will regularly include evenings and weekends. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

Workdays can be long and physically strenuous. Position requires stamina and the ability to maintain a positive attitude during stressful situations. Job functions include standing, walking, climbing, lifting, carrying, and moving heavy objects such as event furniture.
