For Austin Opera’s final production of the 2018-2019 season, you’ll take a trip to Paris for one of the most enduring operas of all time, Giacomo Puccini’s tragic, love-story masterpiece, La bohème. With a setting in the Latin Quarter of Paris, Puccini’s timeless story of the struggling yet happy bohemians Mimi, Rodolfo, Musetta, Marcello, Colline and Schaunard is set against some of the most memorable and powerful music in all of opera. This traditional staging by director Alison Moritz marks the first time in ten years that Maestro Peter Bay will conduct a performance at Austin Opera. He leads the Austin Opera Orchestra and the cast, featuring Kang Wang as Rodolfo, Elizabeth Caballero as Mimi, Noel Bouley as Marcello, Susannah Biller as Musetta, Ashraf Sewailam as Colline, and Andrew Lovato as Schaunard. David Small is Benoit/Alcindoro. The Chorus Master is Cina Crisara. For the broadcast, Jeffrey Blair and Sara Schneider are your hosts.
