One hundred years before J.S. Bach became cantor at the Thomaskirche in Leipzig, the job belonged to Johann Hermann Schein. He masterfully infused the sounds of Italy into his music, even though he never traveled there himself. We'll hear a cross section of Schein's music, including instrumental dances from his Banchetto Musicale of 1617, Israelsbrünnlein, and other works.
