This week's program features music from the New World from the 16th and 17th centuries, which was a synthesis of musical elements from the indigenous cultures, plus Spanish, Portuguese, and African influences. The centerpiece of the program is Missa 'Ego Flos Campi' by Juan Gutierrez de Padilla, plus villancicos and xacaras. All music comes from Missa Mexicana featuring The Harp Consort, directed by Andrew Lawrence-King.
