We'll hear the Legend of Orpheus, with music by Monteverdi, Tromboncino, Cara, and Jóhann Jóhannson, with readings from Ovid's Metamorphoses, translated by A.S. Kline (from www.poetryintranslation.com).

  • Selections from L'Orfeo by Claudio Monteverdi. Performed by the Taverner Consort and Players, directed by Andrew Parrott. 
  • Selections from La Favola di Orfeo, with music by Serafino dall'Aquilano, Marco Cara, Bartolomeo Tromboncino, Filippo de Lurano, and Michele Pesenti, and text by Angelo Poliziano. Performed by the Huelgas Ensemble, directed by Paul van Nevel. 
  • Orphic Hymn by Jóhann Jóhannson, from Orphée (2016). Performed by Theatre of Voices, directed by Paul Hiller.
