Events Intern
POSITION OVERVIEW
The KMFA Events Intern will report to the Director of Events and Event Production Coordinator to assist in the technical and administrative tasks associated with supporting KMFA events and venue bookings reserved at KMFA’s venue space.
The internship commitment will be for 150 hours of total time. This will average approximately 10 hours per week and will be flexible in scheduling based on the needs of KMFA and the schedule of the intern. The typical internship schedule includes office hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays to allow time to build relationships with the rest of the intern cohort.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The internship program is designed to provide opportunities for students to learn about all phases of production including:
- Event registration
- Event coordination
- Live production support
- Inventory management
- Client/Donor/Guest relations
- Additional duties as assigned
REQUIRED & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate student, enrolled in courses during the duration of the internship
- Student must be available to commit to a minimum of 14 weeks (September - December) for this internship
- Internship will be in-person
- 10 hours each week on Tuesdays and Thursdays
- Proficiency in Google Workspace Suite and Office 365
Additional Opportunities
There may also be an opportunity for the intern to work as a Manager on Duty to support events. These hours would be compensated at $16 per hour. Event Managers on Duty (MODs) represent KMFA when external clients book space for their events. This role focuses on making sure that the facility is not damaged and that the health and safety of guests is prioritized.
MODs arrive in advance of clients and set up crews to ensure access to the space, and they remain until the last person departs the building. They are knowledgeable regarding the facility operations (light switches, building temperature control, location of cleaning supplies, etc.). They work directly with clients, assisting as needed and providing a positive and hospitable guest experience.
Eligibility for MOD hiring will be determined on a case-to-case basis.
