KMFA General Internship
POSITION OVERVIEW
The KMFA General Intern will report to the Manager of Education and Outreach to assist with a broad range of tasks, gaining insights into various aspects of nonprofit radio operations and community engagement. This internship provides a holistic view of KMFA’s programming, events, marketing, and community initiatives.
The internship commitment will total 120-150 hours(100-120 for summer), starting conjunction with the typical higher ed academic calendars in Austin, for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters, averaging 10 hours per week with flexibility. Typical office hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays to facilitate collaboration with staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The internship program is designed to provide opportunities for students to learn about nonprofit operations, community engagement, and radio programming:
- Assist with administrative tasks across departments, including programming, outreach, and membership.
- Support KMFA’s educational and outreach initiatives, such as the Kids on Key program.
- Aid in planning and coordination of KMFA’s seasonal and community events.
- Assist with donor communications, data management, and marketing support.
- Participate in weekly check-ins and planning meetings with KMFA teams.
- Other duties as assigned to provide a well-rounded internship experience.
REQUIRED & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate student, enrolled in courses during the internship period.
- In person office hours may be required on Tuesdays and Thursdays
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Office 365, and social media management tools.
- Strong written and visual communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
