Digital Content & Social Media Intern
POSITION OVERVIEW
The KMFA Digital Content Intern will report to the Digital Content Producer and assist in creating, managing, and analyzing digital content for KMFA’s online platforms. This role offers a hands-on opportunity to build experience in digital media strategies, content creation, and analytics specific to nonprofit media. The Social Media manager will similarly manage all aspects of KMFA’s social media platforms and jointly report to the Digital Content Producer and Director of Marketing.
The internship commitment will total 120-150 hours(100-120 for summer), starting conjunction with the typical higher ed academic calendars in Austin, for Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters, averaging 10 hours per week with flexibility. Typical office hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays to facilitate collaboration with staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The internship program is designed to teach students digital content strategy and social media management within the context of classical music and community radio:
- Develop, schedule, and monitor social media posts across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
- Assist in creating visual and written content for KMFA’s digital presence.
- Support digital advertising efforts, including campaign planning, reporting, and analytics.
- Engage with KMFA’s online community, responding to comments and messages.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to brainstorm and execute digital campaigns.
- Contribute to the maintenance and updates of KMFA’s website and online content library.
- Other digital media tasks as assigned.
REQUIRED & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate student, enrolled in courses during the internship period.
- In person office hours may be required on Tuesdays and Thursdays
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Office 365, and social media management tools.
- Strong written and visual communication skills.
- Familiarity with digital media, social media, marketing principles, and analytics.
