Antigonick by Sophocles with a new translation by Anne Carson, plays the Mary Moody Northen Theatre at St. Edward’s University, Sept. 21- Oct. 1, 2023.

“Antigonick” is a modern retelling of Sophocles’ classic Greek tragedy, offering a fresh perspective on timeless themes. Be prepared for a thought-provoking and visually stunning theatrical experience that will leave you captivated.

The cast features guest Equity artists Matt Hislope as Kreon and Kia Zhani as The Messenger alongside students from the St. Edward’s Department of Performing Arts. The creative team includes Alex Bassiakou Shaw (Director), Sandra Lopez (Scenic Design), Aaron Flynn (Properties Design), Kathryn Eader (Lighting Design), K. Eliot Haynes (Sound Design), Regan Shaw (Costume Design), Tara Cooper (Hair and Makeup Design), Robert Tolaro (Production Stage Manager) with original music composed by Peter Stopschinski.

  • Mary Moody Northen Theatre (MMNT) stands at the center of the Department of Performing Arts theater training program at St. Edward’s University and operates on a professional model.

    Our program requires students to learn all facets of theatrical production and demands the highest level of commitment and craft in their work. Through MMNT, students have the opportunity to work alongside professional guest designers, directors and actors and earn points toward membership in Actors’ Equity Association — the union of professional actors and stage managers in the U.S.
