AUSTIN LIBARAY FOUNDATION PRESENTS:

JAMES COMEY

CENTRAL PARK WEST: A CRIME NOVEL

June 7 | 7:00 p.m. | Central Library

Former CIA director James Comey will present his debut novel, “Central Park West” at the Austin Central Library at 7 p.m. on June 7.

He will be joined in conversation with Texas Tribune CEO Sonal Shah.  Comey will be available to sign books after the event.

The fiction debut from the former FBI director takes readers deep inside New York’s world of lawyers and investigators working to solve a murder while navigating the treacherous currents of modern politics and the mob. When a years-long case against a powerful mobster finally cracks and an unimpeachable witness takes the stand, federal prosecutor Nora Carleton looks forward to putting the defendant away for good. The mobster, though, has other plans.

Comey based the character of Nora on his two daughters: Maurene, who is chief of Violent and Organized Crime in the Southern District of New York U.S. Attorney's office, and Abby, who, like Nora, is gay.

“Central Park West: A Crime Novel” is published by Mysterious Press.

This event is presented by The Library Foundation, Austin Public Library, and BookPeople.

  • Name: Austin Library Foundation
  • Mission

The Library Foundation supports the Austin Public Library by increasing awareness about the library and its importance to the community, and by enhancing library collections, programs, and facilities.

    History

The Library Foundation traces its origins to two support organizations for the Austin Public Library. Beginning in 1962, the Friends of the Austin Public Library provided grassroots support for Austin’s libraries by coordinating advocacy activities. Additionally, FAPL managed the Monster Book Sale, a used book sale that raised funds for the Austin Public Library.

The Austin Public Library Foundation was established in 1996 to increase private support for the Austin Public Library’s collections, programs, and facilities. In 2009, the Austin Public Library Foundation and Friends of the Austin Public Library boards voted unanimously to merge, creating a single library support organization: The Library Foundation.
