Beat the summer heat with another installment of Noon Tunes, KMFA’s free family summer series featuring live music, storytelling, and hands-on fun for kids. Join us this July 28th for Cover to Cover wind ensemble presenting Critter City & Betty the Bat’s Singalong Adventure.

About Critter City & Betty the Bat's Singalong Adventure 

On Tuesday, July 28, Cover to Cover Quintet presents Critter City & Betty the Bat's Singalong Adventure, an interactive musical experience built for young audiences and the grownups who love them. 

Critter City is a whimsical choose-your-own-adventure that follows Betty the Bat and her animal friends through an original tale of local wildlife, told through narration, live music, and visual art. Kids help guide the story, get moving, and discover classical music favorites reimagined for young ears. It's playful, participatory, and quietly does what the best music education does — builds creativity, listening skills, and a lifelong love of musical performance.

Then, bring out the guitars and join the group for Betty the Bat's singalong, with new and classic songs inspired by Western folk tunes, where everyone's invited to join in the fun.

Free snacks, cookies, and activities begin before the show. No tickets to buy, no dress code, and no shushing.

About Cover to Cover

Founded in 2022, Cover to Cover is an Austin-based wind quintet dedicated to creating accessible multimedia concerts for all ages. Musical storytelling, immersive visuals, and inventive reimaginations of classic works are cornerstones of the quintet's programming.

Each summer, Cover to Cover presents interactive programs for young listeners at KMFA 89.5's Noon Tunes series. The quintet is an AISD Creative Learning Initiative Arts Partner and has collaborated with local artists, including Justice Phillips, Lawrie Bird, Tetractys New Music, and more. Cover to Cover regularly performs around Austin at venues including Radio/East, The Rosette, Dell Medical Center, Batch, and Community First! Village.

KMFA 89.5 is an independent public classical radio station in Austin, TX. Established in 1967, KMFA serves approximately 120,000 listeners each week and features locally produced shows like Classical Austin, Early Music Now, and From The Butler School, as well as nationally distributed programming from American Public Media, and National Public Radio.

KMFA supports many regional arts organizations such as the Austin Symphony Orchestra, Austin Opera, and Texas Performing Arts with on-air and online promotions, co-sponsorships, and interviews with KMFA hosts, and broadcasts Austin Symphony Concerts, Austin Opera and Austin Chamber Music Center performances, making classical music and cultural events available to all.
