A Message from CEO George Preston about Federal Funding for KMFA
KMFA has been Austin’s home for classical music since 1967. Over the past 58 years there have been many changes in technology and communications, but one thing has stayed the same — our incredible community. Time and again, you've stood by us — supporting, volunteering, cheering, and donating. We wouldn’t be here without you.
Today, we have an update on federal funding for public media. A rescissions bill to withdraw support from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting has passed the House of Representatives. It will go next to the Senate for consideration.
KMFA planned to receive $200,000 this year from CPB, a loss that would present significant challenges for the station. While the majority of KMFA’s funding comes from individual giving, federal funding provides about 7% of our operating budget.
Make your gift go twice as far — donate to KMFA today and help unlock a $30,000 matching challenge from our Board of Directors.
DONATE NOW
Your donation keeps the music on the air and enables us to be a strong partner to the Austin Arts community. And we need you now more than ever.
As always, we appreciate all the generous support from our community.
Thank you,
George Preston
