Big Medium presents the 5th West Austin Studio Tour (West)! West is a free, annual, self-guided art event occurring May 14-15 & 21-22, providing the public with an opportunity to meet the makers: the local artists and artisans who leave a lasting imprint on Austin’s vibrant, dynamic culture. Tour-goers are invited to discover new artistic talent, see working studios, learn about artists' tools, techniques, and inspirations, and explore unique exhibition spaces and local businesses. What to See & When to See It West includes five participant categories: Artist Studios, Galleries, Temporary Exhibitions, Happenings, and Partner Programs. Artist Studios, Galleries and Temporary Exhibitions are FREE and open on the weekends of May 14-15 & 21-22 from 11am - 6pm. Happenings are also FREE and open on the weekends of May 14-15 & 21-22 with varying hours. Partner Programs happen within and around tour weekends, and some may have costs associated. CATALOG & MAP The 2016 WEST catalog is a guide to all the participants on the tour. Each Studio, Gallery, and Out of the Box is featured with images and information. Also included will be the 2016 WEST fold-out map insert. These beautifully designed catalogs have become coveted collectors’ items over the years, and are invaluable references to the arts in Austin. Big Medium is proud to once again be partnering with Austin Public Library to distribute this year's catalog. Catalogs are FREE and will be available to the public at all library branches on MAY 9.

Big Medium is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and promoting contemporary art in Texas. Big Medium produces the East Austin Studio Tour, the West Austin Studio Tour, the Texas Biennial, and presents innovative exhibitions throughout the year in the Big Medium gallery. Big Medium provides affordable studio space to artists, and partners with various organizations in Texas to help foster the arts and facilitate an inclusive cultural dialogue between artists and their communities.
