Classical Music for the World (CMFW) proudly presents its Spring 2016 Concert Series, “Free, but Happy” featuring Francesco Mastromatteo, Violoncello, and Michael Schneider, Piano.

“Free but Happy” was the motto that the great German composer Brahms used to indicate his spiritual dimension in life. Free to inherit the tradition of the past, but with a modern late Romantic sensitivity, and happy in tracing, through his writing, the path for future adventures in Art. All the sonatas in the program have the most solid structure; their form is always clear; we always know where we are. But the emotional landscape of their journey is very different--from the sober sorrow and intensity of the gestures of the first sonata op. 38, to the nostalgic and intimate love speech of sonata op. 78, to the heroic dimension of sonata op. 99, symphonic celebration of the glory of sound. Though one composer and his music we know the most intense life journey we could witness. An artist who changed to be faithful to himself, to discover a new way of being, transforming into sound the immensity of his soul.

After the concert, please join us for a reception with the artists in attendance. FREE admission.
