AUSTIN CHAMBER MUSIC CENTER PRESENTS

INSPIRATION

FEATURING THE JUPITER STRING QUARTET

Saturday, January 23 at 7:30 p.m. | Virtual Concert

Austin Chamber Music Center presents Chamber Connect: Spring Sessions, brand new performances as part of an immersive 40th season of virtual chamber music.

“Inspiration” features the Jupiter String Quartet whose founding cellist Daniel McDonough claims that ACMC gave him the “chamber music bug.” No vaccine necessary. They pair Mendelssohn’s exuberant Op. 12 Quartet (composed when he was just 19 years old) with Michi Waincko’s internally epic “To Unpathed Waters, Undreamed Shores.”

Jupiter String Quartet

The Jupiter String Quartet is a particularly intimate group, consisting of violinists Nelson Lee and Meg Freivogel, violist Liz Freivogel (Meg’s older sister), and cellist Daniel McDonough (Meg’s husband). Now enjoying their 19th year together, this tight-knit ensemble is firmly established as an important voice in the world of chamber music.

The quartet has performed in some of the world’s finest halls, including New York City’s Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, London’s Wigmore Hall, Boston’s Jordan Hall, and Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center. Their major music festival appearances include the Aspen Music Festival and School, Bowdoin International Music Festival, Rockport Music Festival, and many others. In addition to their performing career, they have been artists-in-residence at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana since 2012.

KMFA Classical 89.5 is a proud sponsor of ACMC's Chamber Connect: Spring Sessions along with support from Still Water Foundation and Gusto Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar.
