The Wednesday Morning Music Club (“WMMC”) kicks-off its 2018-2019 season with a program dedicated to International Music on Wednesday, October 17th, at 10 a.m. The program is WMMC’s annual tribute to musical pieces from around the world and from a variety of composers. For those of you previously attending WMMC programs, please note this season the venue has changed. Meetings are at Triumphant Love Lutheran Church, 9508 Great Hills Trail, Austin, Texas 78759 and will continue at that location until next season. The public is invited and welcomed.

First on the program is music from Mexico with WMMC member and flautist extraordinaire, Sheryl Goodnight, with her guest, pianist Stephen Burnaman, playing Samuel Zyman’s Sonata for Flute and Piano.

Next Richard Kilmer, WMMC member and violinist, takes the audience to Germany with Johann Sebastian Bach’s Partita No. 1, Sarabande.

A quick trip to France is in store with tour guide and WMMC member, Brian Grothues on the piano, delighting everyone on the tour bus with Scherzo No. 2 in B-flat Minor by Frédéric Chopin.

After nibbling on croissants, it’s back to Germany with pianist and WMMC member, Toby Blumenthal-Phillips, and guest Leah Nelson on viola. The duet will present Sonata in F Minor, op. 120; Andante un poco Adagio, Allegretto grazioso, Vivace by Johannes Brahms. Prost!

And last but not least on the tour is a return to the United States with WMMC members Maxine Gomes and Carolyn McColloch, playing a piano duet Caprice Español by Louis Moreau Gottschalk.
