With a population of nearly 100,000, Round Rock has begun efforts to establish an art community entirely all its own. The recently formed Round Rock Symphony will hold its Inaugural Concert on October 25th with works by Mendelssohn, Wagner, Schubert and Beethoven.
At the podium of the Round Rock Symphony’s performances for the next 5 years will be Maestro Silas Nathaniel Huff. With over ten years experience, Huff has appeared with the Greenwich Village Orchestra, Chicago Youth Symphony, and the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra of the Czech Republic.
Maestro Huff studied classical guitar performance at Texas State University in San Marcos before moving to Los Angeles where he earned a Master’s degree in music composition at the University of California at Los Angeles. Additionally, he studied privately in Berlin and has taken lessons with some of the world’s finest maestros, including his current mentor, Maestro Kirk Trevor. In 2001, Maestro Huff was named Conductor of the Year by California State University. Maestro Huff divides his time between his native home state of Texas, his adopted home in New York City, and the rest of the world.
The Friends of Round Rock Symphony will host a meet-and-greet with Maestro Huff on Tuesday, September 30, 2008, in Round Rock. To learn more about the event, contact the Symphony at (512) 466-6075 or info@RoundRockSymphony.org.
